Ms. Liz Waterston

Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Liz Waterston

Welcome to Ms. Waterston's 6th Grade. This year we are going on many adventures-into the past and onto other planets! From Mesopotamia to Egypt and from the center of the earth to the planet of Mars, we will explore ideas and cultures while having fun, working hard, writing and reading about it all as we go along.  We are going to focus on writing more than usual this year, so we can help our students better articulate their higher level thoughts. This year will be a great experience for all!

I also want to share a bit about me, as you may not know my background. My undergraduate degree is from Loyola University in elementary education and my masters from Northwestern University is in an area called Learning Sciences (a study of how three areas of education interact: culture, technology & cognitive science).  I am certified to teach K-9 with middle school endorsements in Spanish and math and very excited to be working with my fabulous new class this year!  In 2009 I earned a National Board Certification and I am thrilled to say I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I renewed my certificate last year so I am certified for another 10 years. This is my 13th year at Spring Avenue and I have taught both 5th and 6th grade.
