Mrs. Megan Glancy

Welcome to second grade at Ideal School! My name is Megan Glancy, and I am lucky to be your child’s teacher. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help your child grow into a lifelong learner. As we learn together, our classroom environment will foster creativity, independence, friendship, and positive attitudes.

I started my teaching career in first grade in the Naperville public schools. My next adventure was teaching kindergarten and fourth grade at St. Isaac Jogues School in Hinsdale. I became an Ideal Panther and have taught second, third and fifth grade. I enjoy reading, yoga, and spending time with family and friends. I have a wonderful husband named Collin and we live in the city with our son, Caden and our goldendoodle, Sophie. I am a big sports fan, and enjoy attend Notre Dame football games. Go Irish!

I am excited to begin another school year and look forward to building relationships with your family as the year progresses. I hope you will take an active part in our learning. I will keep you informed of our activities through an app called Parent Square that you can download to your smartphone. Also, email is an easy way for me to communicate with you throughout the day. I am always available to answer questions, so don’t hesitate to call or send an email. Thank you for trusting me with your precious child.

Mrs. Kimberly Folkening

Kimberly Folkening’s diverse experience in education reflects her love of teaching students of diverse backgrounds.  She taught in Mexico, Indiana, Chicago, and currently at Ideal.  She served as a literacy consultant for City Year for four years and the University of Chicago’s Urban Education Institute for 10 years before realizing the classroom was calling her to return.  In 2014, she began her current position teaching second grade.  She loves gardening and finds joy in digging in the soil with her second graders.  In July of 2021, she completed her course work for her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois.
