7th Grade Spanish
Instructor: Mrs. Rupert
Welcome to Mrs. Rupert's 7th Grade Spanish Class! I am so looking forward to working with you this year and sharing with you my experiences in studying and traveling abroad. Just a bit about me, I have been in education for 26 years, 16 years at Gurrie. Previously, I taught in Minooka, Channahon, and Blue Island. I have a B.A. in Spanish and French Education from the University of Illinois-Champaign with my teaching certification in Spanish and French. I also have a M.A in Educational Leadership from Aurora University.
As for curriculum, in 7th Grade Spanish, we follow the Spanish I curriculum from Lyons Township High School. We use the Expresate! textbook, which is articulated with LTHS. Some of the units that we cover in class focus on describing family and friends, talking about the school day and classes, as well as talking about likes, dislikes, activities and hobbies.
Homework can be found on Google Classroom by the end of each school day: https://classroom.google.com.
My expectation is for students to study their vocabulary every night by breaking up the list of words in groups. When students study 10-15 words a night, it avoids "cramming" before a test. Overall, students who study 15-20 minutes each night perform better on quizzes and tests.
