D105 Writing Festival
Greetings D105 Families,
We are excited to announce our new and revised D105 Writing Festival taking place on May 12th! Our goal this year is to celebrate the outstanding work of all interested students! The act of writing is a personal endeavor, and the recognition of students’ sharing is the purpose of gathering families and students to celebrate the hard work and great ideas of all of our students in District 105.
Similar to previous years, all students are encouraged to submit a piece of writing of which they are proud. New this year, all students can opt to have their work displayed for others to enjoy and appreciate on the night of the event! As we have done in the past, judges will select certain outstanding pieces to be honored. The author of these distinguished selections will be invited to present to a live audience at the writing festival.
Students should take their writing through the writing process, and double check entrance criteria before submitting their final work. Papers should be about ideas that are familiar and/or important to the individual author. They can be ONE page narrative or nonfiction pieces OR students may submit a series of up to THREE poems to share their talent. If it is a longer piece, the author may choose a 1 page excerpt to submit. All final pieces should be TYPED and submitted to classroom teachers (Parents can help type Kindergarten or 1st grade pieces; the originals should be attached.) All writing pieces are due to teachers by: April 8th
