Global Read Aloud was a huge success at Gurrie and a program we are looking forward to participating in again next year. All 160 students, finished the book and collaborated in a different format with various schools globally. Thanks to all who supported the program! Keep a look out for the announcement of next year's title.
We have a neat opportunity to participate in Global Read Aloud this year! The goal of Global Read Aloud is to connect the world through one book. Global Read Aloud starts October 1st and lasts for 6 weeks. About 160 of our Gurrie students will be reading Refugee by Alan Gratz and collaborating globally with schools from Canada, North Carolina, New Jersey, Michigan, etc. Students will read and connect through a variety of activities using Skype, Padlet, Flipgrid and other online platforms. Global collaboration helps students to see that they are a part of a much bigger picture and make connections to one another.
